Explore Salzburg and its beautiful surroundings by following the tracks of the world famous musical “The Hills are Alive” and visiting the pearl of the Lake District, the World Heritage town of Hallstatt. On this excursion, you will explore Salzburg and its beautiful surroundings by following the tracks of the world famous musical “The Hills are Alive”. Start your day with a walk through the Mirabell gardens, famous across the world for the Do-Re-Mi scenes filmed here. See the Pegasus fountain, dwarf garden, as well as statues from Roman and Greek mythology and stunning, formal patterned flower beds. Stop for a photo near Maria’s Abbey (Nonnberg Abbey) on your way to Leopoldskron Palace (boat scene and pink lemonade on the terrace). After a short stop at Leopoldskron, drive on to the palace of Hellbrunn, where you have the chance to visit the original gazebo and gardens. Then, leave the city and follow the road over a small mountain into the stunning Lake District, where they filmed parts of the opening scenes.

Journey along the emerald green Fuschlsee to our first stop at Fuschl Castle. Travel on to St. Gilgen and take a stunning photo of the beautiful scenery from a great view point. Leaving St. Gilgen and driving along the Wolfgangsee, our trip will take us to the town of Bad Ischl, famous for its spa and the Emperor’s summer palace. Driving through Bad Goisern, we will reach one of the highlights of our tour, Hallstatt: the pearl of the Lake District. In Hallstatt, your private guide will point out all the hidden gems and must-sees. You will have enough time to enjoy Hallstatt with all its sights, as well as have lunch at one of the beautiful lake side restaurants (lunch not included in price). Enjoy a short rest here and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. The final part of the tour takes you through the Austrian Lake District via the scenic roads, where parts of the opening scene where filmed, and on to the “Hills are Alive” wedding cathedral in Mondsee, where the romantic wedding scene was filmed.
